ATMOSPHERIC RIVER (2023)

Atmospheric rivers suction up massive quantities of water from the Pacific Ocean and surge over western Canada releasing precipitation. But as with most weather-related events they are increasing in intensity and frequency brought about by climate change. The north Pacific Ocean is also the location of The Great Pacific Garbage Patch, an area now estimated to be three times the size of France and composed largely of microplastics. It's not a stretch to envision atmospheric rivers laden with microplastics transported conveyor belt-like back over land and dumped as 'plastic rain'. Nature is retaliating.
